The economic damages in the trial for the expropriation of YPF might amount to almost 16 billion dollars. As stated on the portal Bloomberg Linea, Judge of the Southern District of New York, Loretta Preska, ruled in favor of the Burford Capital fund and applied the maximum amount expected.
Although the lawyer did not set a figure, she opted for the worst scenario for Argentina, deciding that the economic compensation scheme proposed by the complaint was adequate.
It should be remembered that Burford said that the compensation should be around USD 16,000 million and the Argentine State said that this figure is USD 5,000 million.
Previously, the judge had already found Argentina guilty of improperly expropriating the oil company.
