Events.- A man who murdered a 15-year-old girl after she refused to be his girlfriend was sentenced to 19 years and four months in prison after admitting his responsibility in the femicide.
The incident was detected on April 4, 2022 at the Los Naranjos farm in the Los Verales sector, El Progreso parish in the La Ceiba municipality, Trujillo state.

The lifeless body of the victim, identified as Verónica Claret Carmona Cegarra, was found in a pipe on the aforementioned farm.
After several investigative tests coordinated by the Public Ministry, it was determined that the young woman was taken under deception by the aggressor, identified as José Ramón Maduro Rodríguez (23), to the place to take her life by suffocating her with a rope, after She would refuse to be his girlfriend.
Maduro Rodríguez was apprehended by the Cicpc in Vigía, Mérida state on January 28, 2023, following an arrest warrant issued by the 2nd Control Court of Trujillo.
At the beginning of the trial, the 9th Prosecutor’s Office of Trujillo ratified the accusation against Maduro Rodríguez for the crime of aggravated femicide, provided for and sanctioned in the Organic Law on the Right of Women to a Life Free of Violence.
After the admission of the facts, the 2nd Trial Court of Trujillo issued the aforementioned sentence against the young man who remains detained at the headquarters of the Bolivarian National Guard of the entity.
