Trump Disputes Intel Report, Claims US Airstrikes ‘Obliterated’ Iran Nuclear sites

In a move that has sparked considerable debate, Donald Trump has publicly rejected a United States intelligence report concerning the impact of recent US airstrikes on Iran’s nuclear facilities. The former President insists that thes strikes “completely destroyed” Iranian nuclear sites,a claim sharply at odds with the intelligence community’s assessment.

Speaking to reporters in The Hague during a Nato summit, Mr.Trump stated, “The intelligence was very inconclusive. The intelligence says we don’t know. It could’ve been very severe… There was obliteration.”

Trump Compares Strikes to Atomic Bombings, White House Rejects Intelligence

Adding further fuel to the controversy, Mr. Trump controversially likened the US strikes on Iran to the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki during World War II, suggesting they had a similar war-ending effect.

Though, the initial classified US assessment paints a different picture. Sources familiar with the report indicate that the strikes likely only delayed Iran’s nuclear program by a matter of months and failed to destroy two of the targeted sites.

In response, the White House issued a firm denial, stating that the intelligence assessment was “flat out wrong.” Mr.Trump also took aim at CNN and The New York Times, accusing them of attempting to diminish the success of the military strikes.

DIA Report Details Limited Damage,Iran Moves Uranium stockpile

A report by the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA),the Pentagon’s intelligence arm, concluded that key components of Iran’s nuclear program, including centrifuges, could be restarted within months.

Furthermore, the DIA report revealed that much of Iran’s stockpile of highly enriched uranium, potentially usable for nuclear weapons, had been moved prior to the strikes, possibly to other undisclosed locations.

Based on a preliminary battle damage assessment by US Central Command, the DIA’s findings suggest that Mr. Trump’s claims of “obliteration” may have been an overstatement. The report indicated that while the entrances to two facilities were sealed, the underground buildings remained intact, and some centrifuges were undamaged.

“According to the DIA report, the US strikes sealed off the entrances to two of the facilities, but did not collapse underground buildings,” one person familiar with the findings saeid.
