Dongwang received news from readers that at about 12 o’clock in the morning on the fifth day of today (26th), someone illegally set off many fireworks near Sam Shing Village in Tuen Mun. It is believed to be a private fireworks show secretly staged.According to the filmscreen displayColorful fireworks pierced the night sky, bursting out a series of loud noises and dazzling lights, awakening nearby residents.

The reader who broke the news was a neighbor in Tuen Mun. The sound of crackling fingers woke him up from his sleep. He quickly took pictures of the fireworks blooming with his mobile phone. The “temporary show” ended about a minute later. He pointed out that the location where the fireworks are set off is close to residential buildings, which is very dangerous. He also thought, “Even if the release is two days earlier, let’s release it first after returning to work on the fifth day”, criticizing the perpetrators for disturbing people’s dreams.

Illegal discharge of fireworks and firecrackers poses a danger to public safety and property. According to Article 6 of the Dangerous Goods Ordinance (Chapter 295 of the Laws of Hong Kong), anyone who illegally possesses or discharges fireworks and firecrackers can be fined up to HK$25,000 and imprisoned for 6 months upon conviction.
