Tuen Mun South Extension to Tuen Mun Pier
The Tuen Mun Southern Extension Line will extend southward for about 2.4 kilometers via viaduct. Two new stations will be built, extending southward from the Tuen Mun Station of the Tuen Ma Line, passing through the Area 16 station currently located at Tuen Mun Swimming Pool, and at Lakeview Village to the new terminus near Tuen Mun Pier – Tuen Mun South Station. It is expected that the Tuen Mun South Extension will help alleviate the existing road congestion problem after it is put into service.
The project will start construction this year, with a cost estimate of approximately HK$15.8 billion, and is expected to be completed in approximately 2030. In Tuen Mun District 16, 18 residential buildings ranging from 10 to 45 storeys will be built, providing more than 8,000 units.
Kudong Line connects to Jinshang Road Station
As for the Kwu Tung Station on the Kwu Tung Line, which is an underground station, three stations will be built between the Lok Ma Chau Station and Sheung Shui Station of the East Rail Line, and will be connected to Kam Sheung Road Station on the Tuen Ma Line. The journey between the Kwu Tung North New Development Area and Sheung Shui will be shortened. Together with the Northern Link, it will connect the Tuen Ma Line and the East Rail Line to form a circular railway linking the New Territories and urban Kowloon.
The project has a budget of approximately NT$9.8 billion and is expected to be completed in 2027. It will connect the existing East Rail Line and Tuen Ma Line and serve as the main transportation backbone of the northern metropolitan area.
