Tunuyán’s Hit Musical “Hércules” Arrives at Teatro Independencia

Tunuyán’s municipal theatrical production, Un musical en el Olimpo, arrives at the Teatro Independencia in Mendoza on Friday, October 30, at 20:30, following a winter season run that drew over 10,000 spectators to the Auditorio Municipal Jorge Raúl Silvano.

The upcoming performance marks a milestone for the department’s cultural program, bringing a work built entirely by municipal artists and workers to a theater in the province. The production represents the culmination of a decade of cultural initiatives driven by the Municipality of Tunuyán to expand access to the arts.

The Bottom Line

  • Un musical en el Olimpo plays at Mendoza’s Teatro Independencia on Friday, October 30, at 20:30, with tickets available via EntradaWeb and the theater box office.
  • The production previously completed 21 sold-out performances during the 2026 winter vacation season at the Auditorio Municipal Jorge Raúl Silvano, drawing over 10,000 attendees.
  • The staging involves 33 local artists selected via a May casting call, supported by more than 30 municipal employees managing technical areas, set design, and costumes.

From the Municipal Auditorium to a Provincial Stage

The journey to the provincial capital follows a run in Tunuyán. During the winter vacation season, the show filled the Auditorio Municipal Jorge Raúl Silvano for 21 performances, reaching an audience of more than 10,000 people. The production serves as the central showcase of a decade of municipal children’s theater projects designed to give local performers professional stage experience.

The scale of the production required extensive local mobilization. Following auditions held in May, a cast of 33 actors, singers, and dancers was selected under the evaluation of jury members Federico Ortega, a professor and graduate in Dramatic Art, and theater director and choreographer Verónica Alsina. Behind the scenes, over 30 municipal employees handled technical execution, lighting, sound, costume creation, choreography, and prop construction.

Decade of Cultural Investment and Inclusive Programming

The municipal administration frames the staging as part of a long-term cultural policy rather than an isolated event. Emir Andraos emphasized the administrative commitment behind the initiative, noting that these productions are built entirely within the department to match the quality of major national shows.

“Sostenerlas durante diez años expresa una decisión concreta: que la cultura llegue a cada rincón del departamento, porque no es un privilegio, es un derecho,” Andraos stated.

As part of its ongoing community outreach, the municipal cultural program also incorporated, for the third year, a relaxed performance with reduced stimuli, freedom of movement and spaces for sensory regulation.

An Epic Mythological Journey on Stage

The narrative of Un musical en el Olimpo follows an epic journey from the mortal realm to the heights of Mount Olympus, incorporating comedy, music, and mythological creatures. The storyline centers on themes of friendship, perseverance, and the value of personal decisions over raw power.

Tickets for the Friday night performance are currently available through EntradaWeb and at the Teatro Independencia box office in the city of Mendoza. The transition from the municipal auditorium to the provincial capital highlights the reach achievable by publicly supported regional art programs.
