Turkish authorities have raised their voices towards Russia after an incident involving a cargo ship in the Black Sea that occurred on Sunday.

Turkish authorities have warned their Russian counterparts after an incident involving a cargo ship in the Black Sea occurred Sunday in international waters. This is what the Turkish presidency said on Thursday on the social network X, formerly Twitter.

“After the incident involving a ship, our Russian counterparts were properly warned in order to avoid this kind of incident, which will aggravate tensions in the Black Sea,” the Turkish presidency wrote. Russia said on Sunday that one of its warships fired a warning shot to stop a freighter flying the flag of the Palau Islands which sailed in the Black Sea heading for Ukraine after the ship’s captain failed to respond to a request for inspection.
