Hours before the start of the presidential elections in Turkey, on Sunday, the Saudi consulate in Istanbul issued a new alert to its citizens in Turkey.
“The consulate welcomes the honorable resident Saudi citizens who visit Istanbul and wishes them a happy stay,” it said in a post on Twitter.
She added that she “recommends to everyone, when going out or walking around, the importance of carrying the original identity papers, as well as avoiding crowded places and staying away from polling stations.”
She indicated that “in emergency cases, the consulate can be contacted” on the numbers designated for that.
Turkish citizens vote, Sunday, from eight in the morning until five in the evening, in elections described as “fateful and historic” 100 years ago, as Recep Tayyip Erdogan faces a “unified” opposition for the first time in two decades.
