The question “Fresh or dried turmeric?” easily resolved by one fact – in dried form, the spice is easily faked, it is diluted with flour or starch.

When choosing fresh turmeric, you should pay attention to the smell of the product – it should be intense. Choose elastic roots, without any damage. At home, roast the broken root in a dry frying pan, then cool completely, transfer to a coffee grinder and grind into a powder.

If you still decide to purchase dried and chopped turmeric, then pay attention to the absence of lumps, friability, and tightness of the package.

HACK: If you add ground turmeric to water and let it stand, the liquid should remain clear. If sediment, foam or stains appear, it is better to refuse to use such a product.
