Twitch will allow simultaneous broadcasts on other platforms, but there is a catch

Twitch has become one of the leading streaming platforms in the world, especially when we talk about broadcasting video games or people playing such games.

Over time, competitors to Twitch emerged, which caused the platform to introduce very strict rules to prevent the strengthening of such competitors and the evasion of viewers, such as the prohibition of simultaneous transmission on other platforms. This week, the “purple” revoked this rule, but there is a catch.

During TwitchCon, an annual event held in Las Vegas, Nevada, Twitch announced new rules regarding simultaneous transmission on other platforms.

In August this year, the platform relaxed cross-streaming rules by allowing creators to mirror their broadcasts on social media platforms such as TikTok and Instagram, but now, channels that do not have an exclusive contract with Twitch will be able to mirror their broadcasts on any other platforms.

Even with the announcement, Twitch makes it clear that the simulcast must take place in such a way that the “Twitch user experience is not compromised,” meaning that streamers must not promote other platforms during their Twitch streams or give viewers the impression that they are abandoning the platform.

Among the many other rules imposed by the platform, Twitch asks that streamers broadcast with the same video quality used on Twitch, preventing a lower resolution from being used on Twitch compared to others.

According to some experts, the change is due to the fact that large content creators, who were previously exclusive to Twitch, abandoned the platform to sign agreements with competitors like YouTube.

We don’t yet know if the changes will be detrimental to Twitch in the long term, but it’s clear that the platform is trying hard to keep its content creators happy and active on the platform.

So, will Twitch be able to remain the market leader?
