Twitter gains Picture-in-Picture (PiP) for video playback

After promising the release of the feature over a month ago, the Twitter finally started to release the mode Picture-in-Picture (PiP) for video playback. Today, some users already have access to the feature, which allows you to continue playing videos published on the social network even when you exit the application, in a small floating window. The function uses the native iOS interface, as well as other apps.

This way, if you are watching a video on the bird’s network, when you return to the Home screen or switch between apps, the video should be displayed in the player in PiP, which can be resized and positioned in one of the four screen corners. Until then, Twitter only had PiP playback within the app itself.

It looks like Twitter videos now support iOS system PiP.
Note that it’s rolling out gradually, so it’s normal if some of you don’t have access to the feature yet.

Apparently, the adoption is part of Twitter’s onslaught to occupy the space of networks dedicated to videos, such as YouTube. Recently, for example, the social network app gained an interface similar to that of TikTok when you watch videos, which encourages the user to slide up in order to continue viewing more videos. Twitter Blue subscribers, in turn, can also post videos of up to two hours in length.

It is worth noting that there has not yet been any official announcement by the company regarding the novelty, so there are not as many details about it as about availability. In any case, it should be gradually released to all users, including those who are not subscribers to the platform.

So keep your Twitter app updated and wait for the new feature to arrive!
