Two armored army vehicles burned in Oudenaarde

The fire broke out on Sunday morning in the Westerring zone located along the N60 in Oudenaarde, near the OIP company. Two Belgian army tanks were set on fire there. The firm OIP, a subsidiary of the Israeli multinational Elbit Systems, manufactures electro-optical systems, such as day and night vision goggles.

The fire was quickly brought under control but the two armored vehicles burned completely. No one was injured, only material damage. The inscription “Shut Elbit Down” was inscribed on the company’s walls.

The prosecution has appointed an expert to clarify the circumstances of the incident. It already seems obvious that the fire has been put out. Mayor Marnic De Meulemeester (Open VLD) does not have any additional information at the moment.
