Two Charged After Police Pursuits and Ute Abandoned on Sydney Golf Course

Two people have been charged following a chaotic Saturday night in Sydney’s Eastern Suburbs that involved two separate police pursuits, a damaged patrol car, and a black utility vehicle abandoned on the green of a golf course during Halloween celebrations, according to The Sydney Morning Herald.

From Roadside Check to Fairway Abandonment

The sequence of events began at approximately 7:15 pm on Saturday when the driver of a black ute allegedly failed to stop for a roadside random breath test on Anzac Parade in Malabar. In the pursuit that followed, police allege the driver reached speeds of up to 100 km/h—double the local 50 km/h speed limit—and travelled on the wrong side of the road. Officers eventually called off the first chase due to safety concerns as the vehicle sped into The Coast Golf and Recreational Club in Little Bay. The ute was abandoned after crashing into an embankment near the 8th hole, and both the driver and a passenger fled on foot.

The Second Pursuit and Arrest on Solarch Avenue

Less than an hour later, at around 8:00 pm, police spotted the male driver operating a different vehicle—a white hatchback—along Anzac Parade in Little Bay. When he again allegedly failed to stop, a second pursuit ensued, continuing onto Solarch Avenue, a one-way street. While no injuries were reported, the police vehicle sustained minor damage, and the driver subsequently returned a negative result in roadside testing.

The male driver faces multiple charges, including failing to stop during a police pursuit, driving dangerously, reckless driving, speeding in a dangerous manner, and breaching an apprehended violence order.
