Two dead and two people hospitalized after “Chemsex” evenings in Bordeaux in one week

Overdoses linked to Chemsex evenings are increasing in Bordeaux in just a few days. Two deaths in the central Saint-Michel district of Bordeaux, two other people hospitalized. They all have one common denominator: sex under the influence of drugs.

Is there excessive drug consumption or adulterated narcotics circulating in Bordeaux?
The question arises this Wednesday March 20 in the Gironde capital. Two forty-year-olds were found dead in their homes on March 12 in the Saint-Michel district. The Bordeaux public prosecutor’s office specifies that the two men died following sexual acts under the influence of drugs, a practice called “Chemsex”.

The investigation, initially opened by the head of research into the causes of death, is now being carried out on the charge of manslaughter. The two deaths were clearly linked to overdoses, adds the Bordeaux prosecutor’s office.

“LThe two victims had been in a relationship for more than three years and consumed narcotics such as GHB and 3-MMC“, indicates the prosecution. “The autopsies concluded that there was an undetermined medical cause, but ruled out any intervention by a third party. The results of toxicological and anatomo-pathological analyzes are still pending.

Another case on March 15, a man was discovered alone and unconscious by cleaning staff in an apartment in Bordeaux. The man, born in 1984, was evacuated to Saint-André hospital in Bordeaux. Various narcotics were discovered on site.
As soon as he left the hospital the next day, the forty-year-old was placed in police custody in the premises of the national police. He stated “obtain supplies on the internet by ordering illicit products on a Dutch site or by obtaining supplies in Bordeaux. A fan of “Chemsex”, he admitted to organizing parties for this purpose and selling drugs since 2021“.

Referred today to the Bordeaux public prosecutor’s office for a deferred appearance, the public prosecutor’s office requested his placement in pre-trial detention until the date of his judgment on the following counts: importation, acquisition, transport, offer or transfer in a manner illicit substances or plants classified as narcotics.
In this case, these are 3-MMC, GBL, cocaine, ectasy and MMDA. The hearing on the merits is scheduled for April 22 before the 7th Criminal Chamber.

Third case. On March 16, a resident of Bordeaux felt unwell at his home while he was in the company of two men. The latter contacted the emergency services, who transported the victim to the hospital.
The two individuals were interviewed and declared having consumed 3-MMC with the victim. On site, the presence of narcotics such as 3-MMC, ketamine and poppers confirms the theory of consumption of toxic products.
All products are “currently under analysis. The victim, out of danger and leaving the CHU, must be heard“, adds Frédérique Porterie, public prosecutor of Bordeaux. An investigation into drug trafficking and unintentional injuries has been opened.

According to one of our sources, an expert in the field, it would be very easy today to order drugs on the internet. This would come mainly from the Netherlands and would be sent directly by post or through delivery sites. “The drugs are hidden so that customs dogs won’t sniff them“.

This drug, often 3-MMC, is said to be “cheaper than cocaine“. It costs between “20 and 30 euros per gram“, according to our source, compared to 65 euros on average in France for cocaine.
What we know today in these three cases concerning the Bordeaux area is that there is a common denominator: sexual acts under the influence of drugs, and that these Chemsex practices took place in Bordeaux. .

On the side of the Bordeaux public prosecutor’s office, we are told that “no link could be made at this stage between these three procedures, which are all entrusted to the same investigation service, the DCT-33. As they stand, only two deaths are to be deplored.“.
