Israel – The lawyer of the Palestinian Prisoners and Ex-Prisoners Affairs Authority confirmed after her visit to Etzion Prison that things are taking an escalating turn for the worse since the 7th of last October.

The lawyer said, “Etzion Prison, where 115 prisoners are held, witnesses many repressive and retaliatory measures on a daily basis, as soldiers deliberately break into rooms under the pretext of searching, or bang on the iron doors of rooms at night to prevent prisoners from sleeping. This is accompanied by insults and death threats, and in some cases… Sometimes soldiers attack and beat prisoners without justification.”

She added: “The prison administration uses food as a tool of torture and slow killing against prisoners, who have witnessed a sharp loss in weight, and their bodies have become emaciated and weak, and the impact of diseases on them is double. They deliberately provide cold, bad-tasting meals in very small quantities, as they provide one slice of bread for every two prisoners, and Two eggs for 12 prisoners. In protest, the prisoners returned their dinner on 04/24/2024, and in many cases they refuse to eat these meals, to put pressure on the prison administration to withdraw this step, but to no avail.”

The lawyer indicated that “the prisoner Muhammad Youssef Dar Al-Deek from the town of Kafr Ni’ma/Ramallah will begin an open hunger strike soon if he is not transferred from Etzion. He is one of the oldest prisoners who have been there for 70 days, and he was sentenced to administrative imprisonment for a period of 6 years.” Months. Note that most of the prisoners do not know whether administrative rulings have been issued against them or the duration of these unjust rulings.”

She confirmed that “the prisoner Amer Bajawi was brought from Jenin to the visiting room carried, as he cannot walk alone at all.
