A major house fire broke out this Monday morning around 11 a.m. on rue de la Côté in Couillet, in the Charleroi region. For a reason still unknown at this stage, smoke was reported from the roof of a house under renovation.
When the Marcinelle firefighters arrived on the scene, the flames had already spread to a neighboring house. The men of the fire therefore called for reinforcements. An ambulance was also called as a precaution.
Three houses were hit in all. Two are completely destroyed, the third is partially. Around noon, firefighters were still battling the flames. There were no injuries.
Residents were asked to close their doors and windows due to the heavy smoke.
