Mother and daughter lost their lives tonight on the Mérida-Progreso highway, after the mototaxi in which they were traveling was hit from behind by a car, which has forced the partial closure of the road.
Regarding this terrible accident, it was found out that the women, a lady and her little daughter of approximately eight years of age, were on board the light vehicle, almost leaving the port and very close to the Pemex facilities.
Suddenly, from behind, they were hit by a car that was speeding too much and whose guide was careless, apparently due to being under the influence of alcohol, sending mother and daughter into the air, and when the hard pavement fell, they died. instantly.
Meters ahead the motorist stopped, and police officers arrived at the site who took charge of him, in addition to paramedics who assessed the women and reported that they no longer had vital signs.
The mototaxi guide was treated by rescuers, who sent him urgently to a port hospital because he was seriously injured.
At the scene of the events, the destroyed mototaxi could be seen, and the mishap caused the authorities to partially close the lane from north to south of Mérida-Progreso while the investigations and the removal of the bodies of the mother and daughter are carried out.
