  • His father is said to have been beaten unconscious while out for a walk.

A mentally disabled six-year-old was found dead in a river in Austria. Before that, his father was allegedly beaten unconscious and robbed by an unknown person. According to the police, the father, who is from Germany, was out and about on Sunday night in St. Johann in Tirol with his son, who was sitting in the pram, when someone apparently hit him on the head from behind with a bottle.

Parents are “devastated and stunned”

According to the report, the father, lying unconscious on the ground, was found by a passer-by a good hour later. His cell phone and wallet were missing, and there was no trace of the child either. After an hour-long search by the fire brigade and police, the body of the six-year-old was finally recovered from the Kitzbüheler Ache about 600 meters downstream.

According to the police, the boy probably got out of his buggy and fell into the river. The father was injured in a hospital and received psychological care. On the donation page of their boy suffering from syngap syndrome, the parents thanked them for their sympathy on Wednesday and wrote: “We are infinitely sad, devastated and stunned.” They also called on any witnesses to report information to the State Criminal Police Office in Tyrol.

“This unscrupulousness is not known here in the region”

However, there are still some unanswered questions in the investigation. The “Bild» asks: «Why was the father walking his son in the middle of the night?» The crime is said to have happened at four o’clock in the morning, the crime scene is 16 kilometers away from the parents’ place of residence. Friends of the family also told the newspaper: “This unscrupulousness of pulling a bottle over the head of a father with a pram is not known here in the region.”

How and why Leon fell into the water is still under investigation. Family friends explain: “He loved water. The parents wanted to start swimming therapy for him. » The boy’s parents write on Facebook: “Schnuffi, we miss you sooooooo much!” Even before Leon’s death, you started a fundraising campaign, with the proceeds of which Syngap patients (but also those affected by other rare genetic defects) should be able to have a better life. The disease is so rare that there is almost no research on it. By Thursday evening, 330,000 euros had already been collected there.
