UAE Indigenization Project Phase 2: Requirements, Sectors, and Fines – Contemporary Malayalam Desk

Abu Dhabi: The second phase of the indigenization project has started in the UAE. The new requirement is that in 2024 and 2025 companies with 20 to 49 employees should hire one Swadeshi each.

Indigenization has to be followed in 14 selected job sectors. According to the Emirati Talent Competitiveness Council Program (NAFIS), indigenization is to be implemented in 68 professional and technical posts in sectors including IT, real estate, education, construction and healthcare.

With this, the aim is to provide employment to a total of 24,000 natives in this category of companies within 2 years. In this regard, 12,000 companies had already been instructed.

Violation of the law will result in a hefty fine of AED 84,000 per year for firms in this category that do not employ a native. By December 2025, the fine for a company that does not employ a total of 2 UAE nationals will increase to AED 168,000.

Indigenization Sectors – Information and Communications, Finance and Insurance, Real Estate, Professional and Technical Activities, Administrative and Support Services
Education, Healthcare and Social Work, Arts and Entertainment, Mining and Quarrying, Transitional Industries Manufacturing, Wholesale and Retail, Transport and Warehouses Accommodation and Hospitality.
