Dubai: UAE President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan has arrived in Qatar, where the World Cup is taking place, for an official visit. The UAE News Agency reported that Sheikh Mohammed’s visit was at the invitation of Qatar Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani. The Emir of Qatar personally received the UAE President who arrived at the Deha Hamad International Airport on Monday morning. This is the first visit of the UAE President after the Arab countries lifted the embargo on Qatar.
Earlier, Sheikh Mohammed congratulated Sheikh Tamim at the start of the FIFA World Cup and extended all support to host the tournament successfully. UAE Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum also participated in the opening ceremony of the World Cup.
UAE President’s Diplomatic Adviser Anwar Gargash said on Twitter that the visit is another step to strengthen Gulf unity and joint action.
