Ukraine advances: Russian administration withdraws from Cherson

According to the Russian occupiers, Ukrainian forces have begun recapture attempts in the Cherson region annexed by Moscow. The Ukrainians went on the offensive in the direction of Nova Kamianka and Beryslav, it was said on Wednesday. So far, however, all attacks have been repelled.

Initially, there was no information from the Ukrainian side. Kyiv only said in the morning that it had shot down a Russian attack helicopter in the Cherson region.

Prohibition to enter region

Earlier, the pro-Russian administration of Kherson announced that it would withdraw completely from the city in the face of the impending attack. “As of today, all government structures of the city, civil and military administration, all ministries, will be moved to the left bank of the river,” said Vladimir Saldo, head of administration.

However, the Russian army will fight the Ukrainian troops in the city “to the death”.
