The number of people killed under the rubble of a collapsed apartment building in the town of Chasiv Yar in Ukraine’s Donetsk region rose to 43 on Tuesday, emergency services said, with rescue work still far from over, four days after the building was hit by a Russian missile strike.
On Tuesday, the Directorate of Regional Emergency Services stated on Facebook that more than 420 tons of rubble had been removed and nine people had been rescued from under the rubble.
Russia, which denies deliberately targeting civilians, said on Monday it had “destroyed a temporary deployment point” for a Ukrainian regional defense unit in Chasiv Yar.
