After independence in 1991, Ukraine was seen as a divided country: loyal to Moscow in the east and pro-European in the west. With the war, a different picture emerges.

Photographer Joann Randles photographed Olha Boyko a year after the start of the war. Boyko comes from the town of Boryspil near Kiev, she fled to Britain on the first day of the war.
