The G-7 countries have threatened Iran with significant new sanctions if it supplies Russia with ballistic missiles for use in Ukraine. “We reiterate our call for third parties to immediately stop providing material support to Russia’s illegal and unjustified war of aggression once morest Ukraine,” otherwise they would face “serious costs,” the G7 said Friday.
“Should Iran continue to provide Russia with ballistic missiles or related technologies, we stand ready to respond quickly and in a coordinated manner, including with new and significant measures once morest Iran,” said the group, which includes the United States, Germany, France, Italy, Great Britain, Japan and Canada.
A senior U.S. government official told reporters there was a “real danger” that such a shipment might occur. Among the punitive measures discussed was the suspension of national airline Iran Air’s flights to Europe. The U.S. official did not provide further details further possible steps.
