[Kyiv (Kiev) 24th Archyde.com]–A spokesman for the emergency services department of the Ukrainian government said on the 24th that it would take at least 10 years to remove all landmines and explosives in the country after the war with Russia.

So far, thousands of explosives have been removed, including 2000 bombs dropped in the air on 620 square kilometers of land, but about 300,000 square kilometers may still be “contaminated.”

This is about half the territory of Ukraine and is about the same area as Italy.

A spokesman said it was unclear what the current fighting area would be like and that 10 years is an optimistic number. Priority will be given to the removal of infrastructure such as roads and residential areas, but the removal of forests, rivers and coastal areas will take longer.
