Ukrainian intelligence agents thwarted a Russian plot to assassinate Volodymyr Zelensky.
The State Security Service (SBU) of Ukrainian said he had arrested Russian agents within the country’s national guard plotting to kidnap and assassinate the president Zelensky and other senior government officials.
“SBU and counterintelligence investigators thwarted FSB plans [υπηρεσία ασφαλείας της Ρωσίας ] to kill the president of Ukraine and other representatives of the military and political leadership,” the SBU reported to Telegram, noting that Zelensky’s killing would be a “gift” to Vladimir Putin ahead of his inauguration.
According to iefimerida, he also claimed that an undercover agent had leaked the coordinates of a safe house ahead of a planned missile attack and that Russia had planned to use another missile to destroy the tracks of the drone, which would be used against Zelensky.
“The enemy actively developed plans to neutralize President Volodymyr Zelensky/ One of the missions of the FSB intelligence network was to look for executioners among the military close to the protection of the President, who could take the head of state hostage and later to kill him.
In addition to Volodymyr Zelensky, the enemy planned to kill the head of the Security Service of Ukraine, Vasyl Maliuk, the head of the intelligence service of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Kirill Budanov, and other high-ranking officials,” the SBU said.
