Ukrainian drones strike Russian Syzran refinery
The governor of Russia’s Samara region said on Saturday that Ukrainian drones had struck two oil refineries belonging to state oil giant Rosneft in the region, without causing any casualties. Russian President Vladimir Putin accused Ukraine on Friday of trying to sabotage the presidential election which he is certain to win.
The Syzran refinery in the Volga region was on fire, but another attack on the Novokubyshev refinery was foiled, Governor Dmitry Azarov said in a statement on Telegram. He added that workers at both factories had been evacuated and there were no casualties.
Unverified footage posted online showed what appeared to be a major fire at the Syzran refinery, with emergency services working at the scene. In recent weeks, Ukraine has heavily targeted Russian oil infrastructure, striking refineries across European Russia. The governor of the border province of Belgorod, which has suffered near constant attacks in recent months, said five people, including a child, were injured in a drone attack on a car traveling near the Ukrainian border.
Two dead in strikes in Russia’s Belgorod region
Two people were killed, according to Russian authorities, in new strikes on Saturday in Belgorod, capital of the region of the same name bordering Ukraine, kyiv being accused of increasing bombings on the occasion of the Russian presidential election.
“Great misfortune, two people died, a man and a woman”regional governor Vyacheslav Gladkov said on Telegram, adding that eight rockets had been shot down over Belgorod.
He said the man died when his truck was hit, and the woman was killed at a parking lot. The latter’s son was seriously injured and doctors “fighting for his life”. Two other people were injured.
