Two Ukrainian devices arrived in the Russian capital

One of the two drones that attacked Moscow in the early hours of Monday fell in the vicinity of a military university, in an area of the capital where several buildings of the Russian Defense Ministry are located.

The device fell next to number 17 Komsomolski avenue, causing the breaking of windows in at least two shops. A group of workers cleared the broken glass from the area, which was cordoned off by the police.

Traffic on Komsolmolski, which was suspended after the drone crash, has already resumed and flows normally.

According to BellingCat researcher Christo Grozev, in the sector where the drone crashed are several buildings of the Military Intelligence Directorate of the Russian Defense Ministry.

The second device fell on Lijachov Avenue, in a business center under construction, and broke glass on the 17th and 18th floors in an area of 50 square meters.

“Today, around 04:00 (01:00 GMT), there were drone attacks on two non-residential buildings. There was no serious damage or casualties, ”Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said on his telegram channel.

Previously, the Russian Ministry of Defense had claimed to have thwarted “an attempt by the Kiev regime to carry out a terrorist attack with two unmanned aerial devices against installations on the territory of Moscow.”

He indicated that “the two Ukrainian drones were inhibited by means of electronic warfare and crashed.”

The department headed by Sergei Shoigu assured that, as a result of the “repressed terrorist attack”, there were no victims.

The mayor of the capital, Sergei Sobyanin, reported that the drones hit two non-residential buildings in Moscow

The last attempted attack against Moscow occurred on July 4, when Defense claimed to have thwarted a terrorist attack with five drones launched by Ukraine against New Moscow, an administrative district of the Russian capital, and the Moscow region.

Previously, Russia reported on June 21 the downing of three drones that were trying to attack facilities in the Moscow region.

Two of the most notorious attacks against the Russian capital that did succeed occurred in May, one against several apartment buildings that caused “minor damage” and another against the dome of the Senate Palace, which is part of the Kremlin complex in Red Square.

This attack in Moscow is in addition to those registered for a week in Crimea, a peninsula annexed by Moscow, and in southern Ukraine, where tensions escalated after Russia decided to withdraw last Monday from an agreement to export Ukrainian grain through the Black Sea.

In Crimea, a Ukrainian drone strike hit an ammunition depot in the Dzhankoi district in the north of the annexed peninsula, Russian Governor Sergei Asksionov reported Monday.

The population in a radius of 5 km around the deposit was temporarily evacuated, he said. Railroad circulation was also suspended for a few hours, and was later restored.

According to the Russian military, 14 Ukrainian drones were neutralized in Crimea by jamming equipment and another three by anti-aircraft defense.
