The Ukrainian domestic secret service SBU has closed further raids because of possible connections Russia found in orthodox churches and monasteries “propaganda writings”. During searches of religious sites across the country, he seized “Russian passports, propaganda literature and permits” issued by the Russian occupation authorities, the SBU said on Wednesday. He wants to use the measures to prevent “religious communities being misused as the center of the ‘Russian world'”.

Parts of it broke with Moscow as early as 2019 as a result of Russia’s annexation of Crimea and its support for pro-Russian separatists in the Donbass region in the east of the country.
