When we set out to discover another country, we hope not to fall into the famous ” tourist traps “. To avoid falling into the trap, there is now a card that allows you to avoid them every time. Here are the top 10.
When traveling in a foreign country, we want to see everything, to visit everything. Unfortunately, this can land us in so-called “tourist traps”. These are places, monuments or even famous restaurants, which are ultimately not as grandiose as expected.
The Casago travel site has created a carte which will allow you to no longer be fooled. Indeed, it lists all the places that have received the most “tourist trap” mentions in the comments on TripAdvisor by country (and by state for the United States). This map includes restaurants as well as monuments, markets, museums and even shopping centres.
Here are the top 10 tourist traps in the world
According to this same map, a ranking of the ten largest tourist traps of the world has been established. And there are four that are located in the United States. Here is that ranking:
Fisherman’s Wharf in San Francisco (USA), with 1,049 mentions Las Ramblas in Barcelona (Spain), with 793 mentions Dole Plantation in Hawaii (USA), with 708 mentions Temple Bar in Dublin (Ireland), with 673 mentions Blue Lagoon in Grindavik (Iceland), with 669 Checkpoint Charlie mentions in Berlin (Germany), with 664 Times Square mentions in New York (USA), with 661 Café du Monde mentions in New Orleans (USA), with 643 mentions Hofbrauhaus in Munich (Germany), with 552 mentions The Guiness Brewery in Dublin (Ireland), with 516 mentions
Other tourist traps mentioned on the map include the Eiffel Tower (291 mentions), the Trevi Fountain (279 mentions), the London Eye (334 mentions), the Hollywood Walk of Fame (285 mentions) and Niagara Falls (474 mentions). In Belgium, it is the restaurant Chez Léon, in Brussels, which tops the ranking, with 174 mentions.
