The World Cup of Cricket will begin on Thursday. The opening match is between the last time finalists England and New Zealand. Ten teams including the host India are participating in the World Cup.
With just hours to go before the start of the cricket season, former England captain Nasser Hussain has picked his World Cup XI. The team includes players from each of the ten teams participating in the World Cup. Also, one more Indian player was included in the squad through wildcard entry.
Pacers include Australian captain Pat Cummins and Kiwis superstar Trend Bolt in Nasser Hussain’s team, who led England in the 2003 ODI World Cup. All rounders Bangladesh captain Shakibul Hasan and Afghanistan star Rashid Khan are the spinners. Along with Sri Lanka’s Mahish Thikshna, 23-year-old batting all-rounder Bas de Leede of the Netherlands is also in the team.
Pakistan captain Babar Azam will bat at number three and England captain Jos Buttler at number five. South Africa’s wicketkeeper-batsman Quinton De Kock is an opener. Superbatters Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli are the Indian players who have been included in the former English star’s World Cup XI. Both are in great form. Both scored half-centuries in the ODI against Australia in Indore. Nakayan is the butler.
