Atom Egoyan knew Amanda Seyfried was a “remarkable young actress” when he first met her.
The 63-year-old filmmaker reunited with Mamma Mia star Amanda, 37, for his new film Seven Veils, after working with her on erotic thriller Chloe in 2009 and recalled spotting her talent at the time .
He told ScreenRant: “Chloe is itself a remake, and it was a project that I was very excited to do, but it wasn’t my script. I didn’t have the same freedoms that I have when I direct my own script and my own production. But I had access to it as soon as Amanda auditioned for “Chloe.” She is a remarkable young actress who was so emotionally available. »
In the upcoming film, Amanda plays a theater director who must deal with repressed trauma as she prepares to put on a production of the opera “Salomé,” and Atom added that the project took 15 years in total .
He added: “I would say the only similarity between the characters is that there is something that both characters think they deserve that is being denied to them. Watching her negotiate this with Chloe was very, very real. At any given moment, there were a lot of formulas and clichés in this film, but she made it all very real and true, and we had a great experience making it. So we promised ourselves we would find something else. But it took a while, really, it’s been 15 years, but I started thinking about Jeanine. It’s like she said, ‘Okay, this is the project we can do again together.’ »
