A sudden heart attack caused the death of the Minister of Constitutional Court (TC), Rodrigo Pica Flores, this Tuesday afternoon. The unexpected news shocked academia and politics.
The well-known 44-year-old constitutional lawyer suffered a cardiovascular accident while taking a master’s class at the Central University, reported Tele13.
Pica had been a minister of the Constitutional Court since 2021, after being appointed by the Supreme Court and was also a prominent professor at the Faculty of Law and Humanities of the U. Central.

Pica’s death touched well-known lawyers and different politicians in the country.
“His great humanity, his enthusiasm for the good life, gastronomy and culture and his respect for every human being are unforgettable. We bid you farewell with the university banner at half mast,” said Pablo Ruiz-Tagle, a law professor at the University of Chile.
“The sad death of the prominent constitutional lawyer Rodrigo Pica is a great loss for the country,” said Senator Ximena Rincón.
“I am in shock to learn of the death of Rodrigo Pica. A great person, a great professor, a great member of the Constitutional Court”, said the lawyer and ex-conventionalist, Fernando Atria.
