QR Codes at 35,000 Feet
Passengers can now scan a seatback QR code to log into their personal Spotify accounts and stream over 100 million tracks using Starlink connectivity, futuretravelexperience.com reported.
The carrier is the first to bring individual user profiles directly to inflight entertainment screens.
Personalised Audio and Video in Flight
Once logged in via the secure QR prompt, travellers access their saved playlists, tailored recommendations, podcasts, audiobooks, and videos. Users pick up right where they left off and save new favorites for post-flight listening.
“Our customers are used to streaming entertainment that’s tailored to them, and that level of personalisation shouldn’t stop when they board one of our planes,” said Andrew Nocella, Chief Commercial Officer, United Airlines, in the sourced material.
Ian Geller, VP of Business Development, Spotify, noted the milestone in the announcement. He described it as a new way to experience personal libraries on a big screen in the sky.

United Installs Starlink WiFi Across Its Fleet
The integration runs entirely on Starlink WiFi. More than half of United’s daily flights currently feature the hardware.
MileagePlus members can stream across multiple devices while inflight. United expects to finish installing Starlink across its entire mainline and regional fleet by the end of 2027.
Previous Inflight Content Milestones
United first introduced a curated selection of Spotify content on seatback screens in June 2025. That initial release delivered over 450 hours of audiobooks, video podcasts, and music playlists.
Since that launch, more than 2.3 million customers have consumed over 1.9 million hours of Spotify content onboard. The new account integration expands that existing relationship by shifting from static curation to individual user profiles.
