From next Sunday October 1st, you will be able to increase the balance of your LEP up to 10,000 euros. However, you will have to wait two more weeks for your new payments to produce interest. Explanations.
The countdown is on. Next Sunday, October 1, the payment limit will officially pass 10,000 euros, compared to 7,700 euros so far. This increase, promised since mid-July by the Minister of the Economy, is now official, with the publication of the necessary decree in Official newspaper.
The main French banks have confirmed this to us: they will be ready on Sundayfor the majority, accept transfers carrying the balance of a LEP beyond 7700 euros.

A payment on October 1st or 15th changes nothing
This is a godsend: a LEP with a balance of 10,000 euros will now bring in 50 euros per month, thanks to its rate of 6% net of taxes. There is no point, however, in rushing: adding funds to your account from Sunday will not change anything in the interest you will receive at the end of the year. For what? Because your new payments will not start interest only from October 16. You therefore have until October 15 to top up your LEP without affecting its remuneration.
This is the consequence of a specific characteristic of French savings accounts. Where, abroad, the norm is the calculation of interest on a day-to-day basis, French accounts generate interest per fortnight.

Clearly, sums paid between the 1st and 15th of the month bear interest from the 16th, those paid between the 16th and 31st from the 1st of the following month. Conversely, the sums withdrawn cease to produce interest on the 1st of the month for any withdrawal made between the 1st and the 15th, and on the 16th of the month for a withdrawal made on the 16th or after.
