The Emil Frey Group’s Ferraris are currently causing a sensation in the DTM.

The pilots in the Swiss racing team have a good name.

Max Verstappen is also involved.

The DTM is slowly but surely entering the home stretch of the season. An eye-catcher at every race – the Ferraris of the Emil Frey Racing team. The team from Safenwil AG is competing in the DTM for the first time this season and is quite successful. They are currently in seventh place in the team rankings. Before the season, a place in the top ten was the goal. Most recently, they even won a race at the East German Lausitzring.

There are two drivers with quite prominent names in the cockpit of the cars. On the one hand there is Jack Aitken, who has already completed a race in a Formula 1 car, and on the other hand there is Thierry Vermeulen. Vermeulen is the son of Max Verstappen’s manager Raymond Vermeulen. This connection also makes Vermeulen’s vehicle stand out on the racetrack.

The Red Bull logo of the young Dutchman’s vehicle is right in the middle of the bonnet. Then there is the name Verstappen. Of course, that also creates pressure, as Lorenz Frey-Hilti, the team boss, says. “When you drive a Ferrari and have the name Verstappen and Red Bull on the car, that puts pressure on you. You have to deal with that first.” Formula 1 dominator Verstappen and his father Jos also support the young driver. “Verstappen was already there and took his time,” explains Frey-Hilti.

There are still two races to be completed at the Hockenheimring. Jack Aitken is extremely important for the team. “He is very professional and has extreme added value, especially in the further development of the vehicle,” says the team boss, who also used to be a racing driver.

The Emil Frey Group racing team has been around for many years. Construction began in the mid-1960s. Walter Frey even raced in Formula 3 and Formula 2. It’s not just the passion for racing that has to do with the team, development also plays a big role: “Motorsport serves as a platform for further development,” said the team boss and he states: “The TV broadcasts mean it is of course also a casual platform for Emil Frey.” A platform that can certainly be used even better with further podium places and victories.
