One more step taken in the restructuring of hospitals in the Province of Luxembourg? On Tuesday, the Walloon Government finally granted the single permit for the new hospital, the cornerstone of the project called “Vivalia 2025”. a hospital in Marche-en-Famenne in the north and a new center-south hospital. A new hospital planned for Houdemont on the territory of the municipality of Habay, near the E-411, on agricultural land. The town planning administration had refused the granting of the single permit last February. But the intermunicipal hospital had lodged an appeal with the Walloon Government. And this Tuesday Ministers Borsus and Tellier approved the single permit. Willy Borsus highlights in particular the first article of the Territorial Development Code which calls for “meeting the social, economic and demographic needs of the community in a balanced way”. For the Walloon Government, the site is suitable for the establishment of a hospital (fast access roads to the site, along the motorway and the secondary network capable of absorbing traffic). But the permit is accompanied by a condition in order to preserve agricultural land as much as possible, agricultural activities will continue on about twenty hectares within the perimeter planned for the future hospital.
