The use of generative artificial intelligence (AI) like ChatGPT raises concerns regarding job loss.
However, a new study by the International Labor Organization (OIT) reveals that at the moment generative AI is more likely to increase than destroy jobs, especially by automating certain tasks rather than replacing a role entirely.
However, the ILO notes that “the results of technological transition are not predetermined”. “Humans are the driving force behind the decision to incorporate these technologies and they are the ones who must guide the transition process.”
