Black streak in Lake Geneva on Sunday. In neighboring France, two bodies were spotted by a walker, in the town of Meillerie. About ten kilometers from the French town, in the Chablais Vaudois region, a couple made a similar macabre discovery near Noville.
Are the two dramas connected? “At this stage, investigators do not have any information likely to establish a link between the two events,” specifies Florence Frei, responsible for communications for the Vaud cantonal police.
The victim is a man
During their Sunday stroll, a couple looking for driftwood towards the banks of Lake Geneva found the lifeless body near the mouth of the Rhône. “We hope at least that this discovery allows loved ones to mourn or put an end to an unfinished story,” the author of the discovery told us. The police were then immediately dispatched to the scene.
Contacted, the Vaud cantonal police confirmed that the body of a man was found in the lake late in the morning. It is not uncommon for bodies to be found by staff at the Sagrave gravel pit, at the mouth of the river. Is it a suicide “in the Rhône”, as they say in Valais? “The circumstances and identification of the body are the subject of police investigations,” specifies Florence Frei.
