As the Azores anticyclone has returned home, the westerly current has re-established itself over the Atlantic, bathing us in a slightly unstable cool flow marked by highly variable cloudiness with sunny spells and the formation of a few showers, announces Luc Trullemans. This Friday, the wind will come from the west-northwest and will blow with peaks of 30-50 km/h but possibly 50-70 km/h in the showers.

The clearings will become very beautiful in the afternoon on the coast with maximum temperatures fluctuating there between 17 and 19° while elsewhere, we will still note 19 to 22° with a possible peak around 24 to 25° in Gaume in the south of the province of Luxembourg. The following night will be clear and cool in the interior of the country but cloudier on the coast and in the northwest.

The minimums will dip between 2 and 8° in the Ardennes valleys and between 8 and 13° elsewhere except at the sea where it will not be colder than 15 or 16°.

SATURDAY

With the deepening of an oceanic depression over Ireland, the wind will return to the southwest and will become sensitive with peaks of 30 to 50 km/h or even between 55 and 75 km/h at sea during the following night.

The sky will be cloudy or variable over Flanders but with still clearings in Wallonia. A shower will be possible near the border with the Netherlands. The temperatures will still be seasonal with around twenty degrees at the sea and in the upper Ardennes and between 21 and 25° in the plain.

During the night it will start to rain at sea and over a large northwestern half of the country.

Sunday

With the depression moving towards the North Sea, the rains will slide eastwards in the morning and will be followed in the afternoon by appearances of the sun over the northwest of the country and even beautiful sunny spells at sea with peaks of southwesterly winds between 45 and 65 km/h.

It will be cooler with daytime temperatures between 16 and 20° in the Ardennes and between 20 and 22° elsewhere.

Monday and Tuesday

As the active low pressure center approaches southern Norway, the wind will remain sensitive and shift more and more to the west and northwest. The air mass will be very unstable with a constantly changing sky and development of showers that may even be accompanied by thunder.

The maximums will remain below seasonal norms and will oscillate between 17 and 23°.

Wednesday

We should take advantage of a lull due to the passage of an anticyclonic ridge which will reduce the tendency to showers and favor the upturns. But it will still be too cool for the season with barely 15 to 19° in the Ardennes and 19 to 22° elsewhere.

Evolution for next weekend

A new active depression will arrive over the British Isles and move towards the North Sea. It will be the cause of an upsurge in rain or showers and also a significant increase in the wind.

The temperature will remain relatively low for the season, oscillating at the hottest of the day between 17 and 24°.

Probable trend for the end of the month and the first days of August

The models remain quite pessimistic with the persistence of unstable weather and regular rain or showers. Temperatures should also remain unchanged with maximums between 17 and 23°.

A change of weather is however envisaged for the week of August 7 to 13 with a rise in temperatures and a few beautiful days before the arrival of storms at the end of the period (to be confirmed!)
