Bargain. The town of Plévenon, in the Côtes-d’Armor, made a “deal” with a medical student.
In the summer of 2022, Léonard Farcy, a young man accustomed to summer jobs in this corner of Brittany, appears before the mayor of Plévenon with a deal to offer. If the municipality finances his medical studies in the Paris region, the young man undertakes to practice as a general practitioner in the small Breton town for at least 5 years.

This financial boost, 400 euros per month for 7 yearsis therefore more than welcome to help him continue his studies peacefully.
On the side of Plévenon, which has about 800 inhabitants and which is located in a medical desert, the bet was well perceived, given that the inhabitants currently have to travel several kilometers to hope to consult a general practitioner. The town hall has already found the place that will welcome its future doctor: a house that will become health house and will house three medical offices in addition to the apartment of the general practitioner, who will therefore be employed.
A sum to be reimbursed in the event of failure
This device is completely legal, and permitted by article L1511-8 of the General Code of Local Authorities.
Size precision: if he misses his diploma, renounces to be a general practitioner or to practice in Plévenon, the student will have to reimburse the sums paid by the municipality, ie 45,000 euros in total.
The young man still has 7 years of studies before being able to exercise, and will therefore be first the general practitioner of Plévenon in 2030.
