Personalized plaque: “BAKAKI”, “JMENFOUS”… the most unusual ones encountered on our roads

It was a long time ago that Gilles, a motorist, reported to our RTL colleagues that he had seen a car with a shameful license plate on the roads of the capital.

Indeed, this personalized plate displayed “AH -88”. If this doesn’t seem shocking at first glance, it’s actually a Nazi reference.
What is allowed?
We then legitimately ask ourselves the question of how a license plate bearing such a message could have ended up on our roads. In reality, requesting a personalized plate is quite simple: you just need to go to the FPS Mobility website and make a proposal. If the plate is already reserved, you will see “not available”. This is also the case for an unauthorized plate.

Clarification on the criteria for granting or not a personalized plate Among these, we find the word “police”, which is not authorized (on the other hand, “cop” is). Certain insults are also prohibited, as are inappropriate comments (discriminatory, racist, etc.), which will be automatically refused. But for a series of letters and numbers with such a meaning, it is possible that it will pass because the person from the Vehicle Registration Department does not see the hidden meaning…

Most of these personalized plaques are obviously quite personal, like this couple of grandparents who have the “OPA-1” and “OMA-1” or humorous plaques.
