A third aid convoy has arrived in the Gaza Strip via Rafah, media and Egyptian and Palestinian representatives reported today. According to recent reports, more than a dozen trucks have crossed the border so far. In two previous aid convoys, a total of 34 trucks drove from Egypt to the Palestinian territory over the weekend, an Egyptian Red Cross representative said.
The goods are provided by Egypt, other countries and international aid organizations. They first come to the airport in the coastal town of al-Arish, where some of them are taken to warehouses. Since October 12, 27 planes have arrived, said the region’s governor, Mohammed Abdel Fadil Shusha. Together they brought hundreds of tons of relief supplies to Egypt.
According to the US broadcaster CNN, the Gaza Strip is missing a total of more than 7,200 aid shipments since Israel imposed a blockade on the area. In addition, according to UN aid organizations, urgently needed fuel has still not been brought to the Palestinian territory. Without this, people would continue to be “strangulated,” warned UNRWA Commissioner General Philippe Lazzarini in a statement with reference to electricity generators in hospitals.
Israel: Hostage rescue operation – soldier dead
According to the military, Israeli soldiers entered the Gaza Strip at night to combat Palestinian fighters and search for hostages taken by Hamas. 222 people were kidnapped in the Hamas attack on Israel on October 7th, military spokesman Daniel Hagari said about the number of hostages. One soldier was killed and three others were injured in the action.
The relatives of the abductees had been informed, said Hagari. The army believes that most of the 222 hostages are still alive. Two American hostages were released on Friday. The commando operation was not the start of a major invasion, the British BBC reported.
Attacks on Gaza and Lebanon continue
Air strikes on Gaza and targets in southern Lebanon destroyed two Hezbollah cells that were attempting to fire anti-tank missiles and rockets at Israel, the Israeli military had previously said.
