Dr. Muhammad Mukhtar Gomaa, Minister of Awqaf, issued an urgent decision to completely ban smoking inside the ministry’s general office and all its administrative units.
The Minister of Awqaf stressed, in a post on his official Twitter page, on Tuesday, that whoever violates this will expose himself to disciplinary accountability.
This comes after the decision of Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Minister of Health and Population, today, Tuesday, to permanently ban smoking in all its forms in various health facilities, whether they provide curative, preventive or rehabilitative services, in the framework of preserving the health and safety of citizens from the health risks of smoking.
Dr. Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, the official spokesman for the Ministry of Health and Population, explained that the minister’s decision also includes a ban on smoking in the facilities of the Ministry of Health and Population and its affiliated bodies and agencies, and the director in charge of these places is committed to taking the necessary measures to prevent smoking in them.
He emphasized that he shall be punished for breaching this obligation, in accordance with the provisions of the law, with a fine of not less than one thousand pounds and not more than 20 thousand pounds, and the smoker shall be punished with a fine of not less than fifty pounds and not more than one hundred pounds.
