US Ambassador Marc Knapper writes a Braille greeting card for Vietnamese visually impaired children

(PLO)- Two visually impaired children, artist Xuan Bac, and an English teacher were the recipients of a special Tet greeting card from the US Ambassador to Vietnam Marc Knapper.

This is Mr. Knapper’s fifth Tet in Vietnam, but his second year as an ambassador. And to be different from the first year, this year the US Ambassador did not “try” with calligraphy anymore.

He chose a more special way to send greetings to everyone in society: braille.

Since December 25, the year of the Tiger, the ambassador and his wife have meticulously sat down to write cards at the American Center in Hanoi. Under the guidance of his assistants, Mr. Knapper also finished the card and promptly sent it to special recipients.

“Nam Cao” Xuan Bac received a card backstage at the Tao Quan program. But the most special are still two visually impaired children.

“Hello, I hope you had a very happy and happy year of the Tiger with your loved ones. Wish you a happy and prosperous New Year of the Rabbit.

Let’s spread warm Tet wishes to everyone. Thank you. US Ambassador to Vietnam Marc Knapper”.

“Every year I send Tet greeting cards to my friends and relatives, and hope everyone can read them. Thanks to the help of friends at Vietnam and Friends and the American Center, this year I learned how to do it. Braille New Year card. Wish you a healthy and happy new year!”, said Mr. Knapper.

Mr. Knapper is the eighth US ambassador to Vietnam since the two countries normalized diplomatic relations in 1995.

He is a professional diplomat and used to work in Vietnam. Before being nominated by President Joe Biden for the position of US ambassador to Vietnam, Mr. Knapper was deputy assistant secretary of state in charge of Japan and Korea at the US State Department.

The US Ambassador is knowledgeable about Vietnamese culture and people. He enjoyed sharing with native speakers in Vietnamese fluently.
