Washington – The US Federal Reserve (Fed) is continuing to drive interest rates up sharply in the fight against rampant inflation. It raised it by 0.75 percentage points on Wednesday – just like in June. The key interest rate is now in a range of 2.25 to 2.50 percent. For comparison: that of the European Central Bank ECB for the euro area is 0.5 percent.
