By this morning, February 22, American airlines canceled more than a thousand flights, the cause was winter storms – frosts with snow, winds and icing. According to the FlightAware service, more than 1.1 thousand flights were canceled. Most of all – about 230 flights – was canceled by Southwest Airlines. Denver and Minneapolis/Saint Paul airports were the hardest hit.
These are yet another massive U.S. flight cancellations due to winter storms this winter. At the end of December, over 20,000 flights were canceled in a total of ten days. For Southwest Airlines, which even then canceled the most flights, this resulted in a loss of $ 800 million in revenue.
