WASHINGTON – US commandos have joined forces with the Israeli military to find regarding 200 people held hostage by Hamas, a Pentagon special operations policy official said. Defense Department Assistant Secretary Christopher Meyer said that it is their responsibility to find hostages, including US citizens.

The mayor was not ready to answer the question regarding how many US commandos have arrived in Israel. The mayor said that the special operations forces were not instructed to be a direct part of the war, but only to provide necessary guidelines to Israel for military operations. He added that besides helping US citizens to escape, the commandos are also responsible for the security of the embassy.

At the same time, there is information from Pentagon sources that a small group of US commandos was in Israel when Hamas attacked on October 7. They had come for a pre-arranged training. The official, who did not want to be named, revealed that more commandos were sent to the problem-affected area following the attack.
