++ US President landed in Brussels ++ – nuclear weapons threat shortly before Biden’s visit to Europe – politics abroad

Brutal announcement from Moscow: Putin intimate and ex-president Dimitri Medvedev (56) openly threatens the West with a nuclear strike!

Ironically, before the start of the NATO summit on Thursday with US President Joe Biden, Medvedev tones that if the West destroys Russia economically (e.g. with sanctions), this will mean a nuclear war.

Medvedev invoked fears in the West that things could only get worse after Putin:

“A post-Putin world would result in an unstable leadership in Moscow, with a maximum number of nuclear weapons aimed at targets in the United States and Europe.”

The warning is transparent. The Kremlin is trying to spread more fear, to intimidate NATO. Not likely to catch on at Thursday’s NATO summit…

Biden in Brussels

Meanwhile, US President Joe Biden (79) landed in Brussels on Wednesday evening!

There he has three summits scheduled for this Thursday because of Putin’s war against Ukraine.

Because: The heads of state and government of NATO, the EU and the leading democratic economic powers (G7) are meeting in the Belgian capital. And Biden is attending all three summits.

The allies want to discuss further support for Ukraine and new measures against Russia.

Biden will then travel to Poland on Friday, where a meeting with President Andrzej Duda is scheduled for Saturday. He also wants to visit US troops there. It is Biden’s third trip to Europe since taking office in January 2021.

Before leaving for Europe, Biden said he viewed the use of chemical weapons as a “real threat.” According to Scholz, he personally warned Putin against using chemical or biological weapons.

Nator Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg expressed the expectation that the NATO special summit would agree on additional support for Ukraine, including equipment to protect against chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear threats, as well as cybersecurity assistance.

Summit diplomacy on Thursday

Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is to be connected to the NATO summit via video. His adviser Mykhailo Podoliak called for modern anti-aircraft weapons if NATO did not want to block the skies over Ukraine for Russian planes.

The strengthening of NATO’s eastern flank announced by Stoltenberg is already a clear sign of Russia’s deterrence. So far, NATO has permanently stationed multinational units in Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania as well as in Poland. The expansion of the presence means that in the future NATO troops will be present from the Baltic Sea to the Black Sea.
