Due to a short circuit problem, Toyota is recalling more than 1 million vehicles made in the US.

The auto company said a short circuit in the vehicle’s sensors might prevent airbags from deploying properly, increasing the risk of injury during a crash.

Several vehicles from model years 2020 through 2022 are among those with ineffective Occupant Classification System sensors, which ensure that the airbags do not deploy if a child or small adult sits in the front seat.

The company plans to begin notifying affected homeowners in mid-February. Dealers will then examine the recalled vehicles to see if the sensors need to be replaced.

What vehicle models are affected?

The following vehicles might be affected by the recall:

Avalon or Avalon Hybrid (2020 – 2021)
Camry o Camry Híbrido (2020 – 2022)
Corolla (2020 – 2021)
RAV4 o RAV4 Hybrid (2020 – 2021)
Lexus ES250 (2021)
Lexus ES300H (2020 – 2022)
Lexus ES350 (2020 – 2021)
Lexus RX350 (2020 – 2021)
Highlander or Highlander hybrid (2020 – 2021)
Hybrid Sienna (2021)
